CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
|
From Heidi
This is my 10-year-old daughter, Annie, dressed in the Willy Wonka costume I made. She is marching in her school's Halloween parade. The costume was originally for her brother, but he is unexpectedly in the hospital, so we all agreed she should wear it in his place because I spent so much time on the costume. She ended up looking even better in it than he did, because she didn't even need the wig!
|
From Heather
I dressed up like Jack Sparrow last year, but wasn't happy with the costume even though I worked hard on it. So I wanted to try another costume - and we had just seen Willy again. My mom had the red jacket from the 80's, and she found it just in time. We bought the hat and scraps of fabric for the sleeves, I had the boots, and we made the cane out of a metal stake and golf ball painted with nail polish. And that's my real hair! I had a lot of fun with it and wanted to share it with you fans!

This is Carey as Willy Wonka. Carey is a member of the Depp Impact message board.

From Bekah
Well, I only thought it appropriate to dress as Willy Wonka since I do adore Johnny Depp and I met him in July at the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" premiere. I gave it my own girly touch, but nonetheless... everyone knew exactly who I was! Those are my roommates with me in the picture. I had a Blast with this costume!!!

This is Scott as Willy Wonka asking for candy for his chocolate factory.

|
From Emily
This is me, Emily as the AMAZING choclatier Willy Wonka! As you can see I have the goggles, and the hat, I made the golden ticket and me and my mom made the candy cane by getting tubing, attatching it to a wooden dowel thing, filling it with candy and gluing two black and white pop up things to the top! We made the rest of the costume from my closet, my mom's closet and salvation army! The boots are so awsome! I made the pin on my neck out of carboard and tin foil and covered my lips with concealer to make them look white! I also coated my eyes with tons of pink and purple eyehadow and eyeliner, and I won best costume at school! Finally the gloves are from Mr. Lube! My mom was amazed when she found them and the people actually let her have some! Well, tied with an ear of corn, but it was a good ear of corn! HEHEHE! Ok well enjoy!

From Becki
This is my attempt at a Willy Wonka costume. I guess it turned out alright, but I wish I could've gotten the hair color right (especially after I had almost 6 inches cut off!) and the purple contacts. I'm a teacher and all the kids in my school went crazy when I came in and started passing out candy.

From Aaron
It was a 3 month journey to become Willy Wonka. First, I had to find the proper jacket. Then, I got a superb wig that really complemented and stayed true to the original costume. And another important thing for the costume was a proper top hat which I got at Hot Topic for 70 something dollars just like the jacket. To get his violet eyes, I had to purchase some colored contacts over the internet, and to get Wonka's straight teeth, I purchased some false teeth from Dental Distortions. I couldn't find a proper vest so I got used my black turtle neck and I bought a cheapie shirt from the thrift store and hand-decorated the collar and sleeves. I bought a pack of tri-color latex gloves from Sally's, then just put on white make-up and a dab of lip stick to bring out the lips more. I also made my own Wonka bars and wrapped and decorated them into Wonkaness. I even inserted 2 golden tickets into them and distributed all 9 of them.

From Helena
These are my Kids Lanny Wonka, Amanda Lumpa, and Santos Gloop. I love Halloween, but I love Johnny Depp even more, so this was my chance to have a mini Johnny at home. I made all of the costumes by hand, even Wonka's cane. They were the sensation of the night, but people did ask, "What is Willy Wonka doing asking for candy?"
|
From Ryne
I'm Ryne, I am a infatuated with Oprah Noodlemantra and I decided to go as the Chocolate Man. But with a twist of Gene Wilder's Wonka as well. Both men are talented actors, why not mixing the best of both worlds. I just went to a bunch of vintage shops in Toronto and pieced everything together.
|
From Robert
I found the coat on ebay; the shirt was at the thrift store and practically new; vest was at Goodwill; pants and shoes were from dad; chain and hat band were from a costume and fabric shop; hat was from Party Galaxy; "hangy bauble" was custom painted from a little wooden knob; the top of the cane was a bigger wooden knob; the shaft of the cane was ordered from a plastic company - I capped the ends and filled it with Nerds; the W pin was painted posterboard with a glossy finish; the gloves were from a hospital; then I just added makeup and made sure to hand out nothing but Wonka brand candy! All the kids that came to the door were almost speechless at all the detail. but I still need goggles. All together, I think the entire thing was a little over $100, and I'll keep it for costume parties and trick or treats for years to come!

From Kelly Lynn
I'm Kelly and this is my Willy Wonka costume. I was Jack Sparrow last year and decided to take on a Johnny Depp role again. This costume, and Jack Sparrow, were by far the coolest and most enjoyable costumes I ever had.
|
From Chris
I was tempted this year to wear a Yankees hat and shirt with a skirt, panty hose, and heels but Ill save that for baseball season. It was great spending the day at my son's elementary school as Willy Wonka. The parents (mostly moms) loved it. It was just magnificent! I thought it was getting a little dodgy in the middle part, but that finale... Wow!

Total time spent on this costume, off and on for a year and a half. Cost around $200. Hand stitched leather and vinyl shirt and pants, hands made from sheet metal... dunno what else to say! I hope you like.

From Adam
Here's a pic of my Edward Scissorhands costume for this year. I've been planning on making it for a long time. I think it came out quite nicely, although I wish my hair was longer.

From Cheryl
My son John going as Edward Scissorhands for Halloween. We used vinyl fabric as the clothes, and cut out fiberboard and spray-painted it silver for the scissors.

From Annie
This is my son, who very appropriately is actually named Edward. He loves the movie, especially since his name is in the title. He's 4 and a half.

From Brittany
I conned my boyfriend into being Edward Scissorhands for Halloween. He reluctantly let me dress him up as such, haha.

|
From Blossom
My son (Ike, 7) finally chose what he wanted to be a week before Halloween. I had to make the hands out of craft foam so he could wear them to school, but it's not bad for short notice. He got a lot of compliments, and I think he would wear it every day if I let him...

FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS

Here's a picture of me & my husband, Adam, dressed up as Hunter S Thompson & Dr. Gonzo (his attorney). I love HST & thought it only fitting to do a tribute to him this year in light of his death.
|
From Jenn
My name is Jenn and I went as Hunter S. Thompson from Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas while my good friend Kate went as Willy Wonka. I spent a good deal of time on my costume (which consisted of me running around my house stealing objects from my family member's rooms). Nevertheless, don't we make a great pair?

From Kira

From Sioux
This is my 11-year-old son, Marshall. He couldn't decide between Edward and Sands, so he asked why he couldn't be both? LOL! So, I give you Edward Scissor-Sands. I think it turned out alright, but he loved it, which is the most important thing, I guess.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
|
From Donna
Here I am doing my best Ms Capt Sparrow at the Halloween Book Launch in Orlando's Barnes & Noble with author, Disney Imagineer, Jason Surrell, for his latest book, "Pirates of the Caribbean: From the Magic Kingdom to Movies". I was there with some friends, who were also decked out in their pirate finery -- Kyrila is the one who needs a shave, and the other is Rear Admiral Brianna.

From Jade
This is me! My name is Jade Valdes and my best friend Sunny is dressed
as Elizabeth Swann. We chose to do this duo because of our endless love
for the hottest man on Earth. I entered a costume party and won! Alot
of people were excited and then found out that I was a girl and got
kind of freaked out because I was able to resemble a man pretty well.
|
From Shane
My name is Shane and I'm from Southern California. I was Captain Jack Sparrow this year. With the exception of the hat and bandana everything else is homemade. Even the replica compass and the baldric buckle. It took my mom and I about one month to get it all together. I won first place in a costume contest at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club. (Dancers love Jack) I also stayed in character the whole time too which was a lot of fun. This is my favorite costume I've ever put together and I can't wait for another excuse to wear it again.

From Chad

From Matt
My name is Steve Dapcevich and I am very blessed to get to play Capt. Jack Sparrow at renaissance faires and pirate festivals. These photos of me were taken at the Penn. ren-faire. I will next be performing at the Florida pirate festival, Nov. 18th-20. I can't even begin to count how many hours it has taken me to make this outfit. I dyed my vest 6 different times just to get the right color, and it took me over 5 weeks to sew my coat...by hand ...all by my onesy, savvy?!
