Costumes & Other Madness

The 2006 Costume Parade is at an end, and I’ve uploaded all the photos for this year onto the site. Jack Sparrow was the overwhelming favorite this year, but there are a few others sprinkled in, too. Thanks to everyone who participated. You all did a great job on your costumes!

There’s not much news today except for a couple of things that should probably be clarified:

- Jam.Canoe.ca is reporting that Jerry Bruckheimer has “confirmed” a 4th Pirates of the Caribbean film — but actually, he hasn’t. They’re just quoting from an interview I posted here a few days ago in which Bruckheimer said he hopes to do a 4th one if they could come up with a good script, and that they’ve already got a good start on one if they decide to go ahead with it. So Jerry Bruckheimer didn’t say it was confirmed; the author of this particular article did. I wouldn’t take this one as gospel quite yet.

- FemaleFirst and a few other sites have posted a story that says River Phoenix has sent a warning to Johnny Depp that he is in danger and to beware of an obsessed fan. Strangely, this has caused some concern for people, but it really shouldn’t. The story came from WENN (a tabloid ‘news’ feed) which is suspect enough all by itself; and River Phoenix has been dead for 13 years. Obviously, there are crazies out there, which is why celebrities have an entourage of bodyguards wherever they go — Johnny included — but I really doubt he needs the ghost of River Phoenix to tell him that. Besides, this likely came from the same people who decided Johnny is a vampire and that’s why he doesn’t age.
