Depp, Manson & the Apocalypse
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Marilyn Manson reveals how he spent the final moments of the 20th century:
I spent that New Year's Eve drinking absinthe with Johnny Depp in the south of France. We were ready for the apocalypse, and when it didn't come, we were disappointed, so we drank more absinthe and set off fireworks. Since then, I don't drink booze, I drink absinthe.

Wait a sec! I'm not buying into that. Johnny was with Vanessa by then and no way would he want the world to end when he had just found the love of his life!
Donna - I don't believe it either.
Don't forget Lily Rose was already born by then too. There is no way Johnny would have been disappointed at the world not ending. I don't mind weird but Manson is too much for me.
Well, I'm sure they weren't actually looking *forward* to it, but you remember all the hype over Y2K, right? Everyone was waiting for some big calamity, and then it passed like any other moment in time.

For some strange reason I don't believe it either. It sounds like something he would've done say, 11yrs ago, but not recently. In every interview you see of him now he's all about loving life, Vanessa, kids etc. Just doesn't make sense. He could be joking too- who knows.
Yeah...they do know eachother since their early days in rock bands in South Florida, and I've read articles that say they are good friends...and I have seen other photos of them together.
MM says a lot of things just for shock value. I'm not sure, but I think absinthe is illegal, even in France! It's a highly toxic hallucinogenic. Apart from that...well, these are the rich & famous. They are eccentric because they can afford to be. ;)
i dont know why but i have the feeling that manson have a crush with johnny, it is the second time this year that manson talk about his friend johnny.
Looked up what absinthe is. Its other name is La Fee' Verte. (Green Fairy drink). It is alcoholic, of a nature I suspect Manson would try, but Johnny? Gee, just look it up on wikipedia,as Jack Sparrow would say "very interesting..." I hope also with the birth of Lily-Rose, Johnny had better things to celebrate, especially it does not mention Vanessa in the article. Manson dude is too odd a character for me to swallow.

That's one thing I don't like about Johnny. He hangs out with too many weird people. *lol*
Heh, it's cute that they're friends. I'd think he'd be with Vanessa, yeah, but I do remember him saying he tried absinthe when preparing for "From Hell," so maybe. Either way, it's funny. :D
People, Johnny thinks Marliyn Manson is a cool guy, u really do not know him to well if u did not know this,, and I hear Marlyin is really all show and a nice guy, it is all show business.

I believe every word of it. He's a father and loves Vanessa and the kids and he's all happy-go-lucky after having kids and stuff but... he's still a rock star. I remember seeing Johnny with Marilyn a lot during that time period. MM went to the "From Hell" premiere with him. Marilyn is a very intelligent man and I don't see why he would lie about a friend of his.
i don't think that it's true Johnny is family oriented ever since the birth of Lily-Rose and i just don't see him wishing that and that looks like an old pic not very recent
ye it looks like an old pic [to, Lindsey] but it would be an old pic if it was in 1999/2000! nd they do drink together alot. they r really gd mates and have been for years!
This particular pic was taken at the Disneyland premiere of POTC: Dead Man's Chest last summer. :)
