Hoffman Wanted Wonka Role
In an interview with USAToday, Dustin Hoffman admits he wanted to play Willy Wonka in the Tim Burton version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but it seems he didn't get much farther than expressing an interest: "I was told it was Johnny and Tim's and that's that," he said.
Now, I like Dustin Hoffman, but I'm thinking that would have been a much different film. LOL

I'm so glad Hoffman didn't get the part. I like him but he's definitely no Willy Wonka! I doubt if anyone else could play the role after Johnny did it. He really made it his own! I read somewhere that for POTC they were considering Jim Carrey, Ewan McGregor, and Christopher Walken as Jack Sparrow....oops! CAPTAIN; CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. No one else can do that role either. DEPP! YOU'RE BRILLIANT!
vry talented, but hoffster...YOURE WAY TOO OLD!! as johnny's dedicated fans, we all needed to see him pull weird faces and speak in a high pitched voice...cos hes cute like that!! im glad it was johnny back in summer 2005, otherwise my summer wud be BORING! it needed you johnny TRUST me XDD
i wouldnt have it Any Other WAY *-*
Jim Carrey as Jack? - that might have been fun!
But there would never have been a POTCH 2 or 3 then.
I think, that Dustin Hoffman could have been a great Wonka, - but neither he nor anybody else has the magic, that our Johnny has, - it can't be learned. When you've seen Johnny in a part, you just can't imagine it played by anybody else. It'a a magic, that makes you wanna see MORE of him. -
I mean more MOVIES with him..
