Johnny 'Driven to Be Famous'?
The Irish Post offers an interview with Victoria Mary Clarke, Shane McGowan's bride-to-be and author of the book "Angels In Disguise?". In it, she makes an interesting comment:
Johnny Depp admitted the same thing to her - he was teased for being fat as a kid and he was driven to become famous to show people how brilliant he could be.Frankly, folks, this one is news to me. LOL

Scoff ! This doesn't sound like Johnny at all.
I agree patricia this doesnt sound like johnny at all, especially the bit about him being fat.I dont think hes ever been fat has he, certainly not in any pictures ive seen. Sounds like a case of someone using johnnys name for publicity.

He was not fat as a kid, look at all the early pics in school when he lived in florida. Sorry that is just bogus.
I've seen pictures of him as a kid too, and he doesn't look fat to me!
So many pics out there with him as a child and I didn't notice. He didn't look heavy to me. Did we miss something??
I don't know about being fat but according to a biography 'Johnny Depp a kind of illusion' by Denis Meikle, it reads:
One incident in particular left an indelible mark on the youngster: Depp was standing outside the gates of his school when a stranger walked past him, staring at him intently. 'God, what an ugly kid!' the man suddenly exclaimed, before going on his way. The callous remark cut deep: 'He f***ed with me really bad,' Depp was to say of the experience years later. (During his two years at high school, he would become accustomed to being referred to as a 'dirty Indian' because of his ethnic looks.)
JD says he fances his hand at writing. Wish he'd write his autobiography then we'd know for sure what was the truth or not.

But I know freaking Miaramr. There was a roumor when I was a kid that Beauty and Progress (the town moto) was a refferance to the Eugenics movements sielent picture ads for their Beautification therough progress (*Progressive breeding program*)
In the 70's Miramar was all wraped up in twig boys like Andy Gibb and stuff so yhea old chipmunk cheeks may have felt fat about then. My brother got on steroids when C.H.I.P.S. became popular to fit the Miramar image of the time.
oh...but it isnt true. Johnny never really wanted to be famous... and I couldnt imagine him as a fat boy either.
that comment couldnt be less OPISITE to JOHNNY!!!! oh and yeah, from reading 'A kind of Illusion' also..it did mention that the only from of bullying he had was people being sarcastic about his obviously beautiful looks 'God what an ugly kid'... whether johnny was too young to know any better; just believing the guy, (or knowing he was being intentionally ironic) - it still mts have hurt his feelings pretty badly. how DARE!!@*$£ some1 f*** with our johnny!

This "Irish Post" is always running rumors and BS. Never seen a fat picture of Johnny as a kid, and chances are if he said something like that he was being sarcastic. But hey, irony is dead in the modern world.

Unless he was fat like when he was like 4 or 5! I've never seen much pics of him as child though, theres's the one with him in middle school and the one his hair looks blonde there isn't a ton is there? and no baby ones right? or have i missed them?
i have a Johnny Depp magazine and it showed some school pics...none were fat....hummm...??
I don't think Johnny was fat, how could he be. I haven't seen pictures of him as a kid yet.
