This is in the "maybe... maybe not" category, but TMZ.com is reporting Johnny Depp recently purchased a penthouse loft in the Eastern Columbia building in downtown L.A.
Land Ho! Captain Jack Sparrow is sailing into a swanky loft in glamorous downtown L.A., mateys!
Johnny Depp, the super suave A-Lister has been living in France for years, and now he's just plunked down about $2 million on a penthouse loft at the newly converted Eastern Columbia building. TMZ spies say the Francophile's new pied-a-terre at the turquoise Art Deco landmark, features private decks, sweeping views of downtown and the San Bernardino mountains.
Johnny's new downtown neighbors include "Grey's Anatomy" Star T.R. Knight and Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling.
A rep for Depp did not immediately return our request for comment.

Out of the mouth from who the TMZ or Johnny.That's up to Johnny where he&family will live as long all of them are happy.
Hmmm. That's Interesting.. Is it 50% True...It seems. but.. Why he needs a Penthouse?....But good for him:) The place seems Gorgeous...
I would view this and anything coming from this "source" with suspicion. Besides, apartments in this bldg are advertized on craigslist. Nothing against craigslist--I use it all the time--but why would JD live there? Why buy a place in the middle of "Disneyland," as he puts it, when he already has a nice house in the H. Hills? Seems like a scam to up property values.
I read this...and ask myself "why?"
It's for guests and friends. Now I know where I'll be staying when I finally get my invitation. LOL !
If he has bought it good luck..it looks to be the type of retro place Johnny would buy...With all that cash..property must be a great investment..who wants the tax man taking it after all..though it was Somerset Uk last year...well i hoping for the UK bit...never mind whatever makes him happy..does he need a maid for his new pad!!!!Im packing just in case.....i dream on.....

i think it's kinda weird that he bought himself a penthouse oh well that's up to him, he has the money let spend it.
well let me tell you this but if he bought himself a penthouse let him that's his choice, it's his money so let him spend it the way he wants to spend it.

This is fakeeee. Why would he want to move to L.A. when he has said multiple times that he loves it in France.
Again,and this is just from my gut feelings, I believe this penthouse purchase could be, perhaps, a good real estate investment for Johnny?!....he owns property in many places of the world...even owns classier homes than this penthouse mentioned here... where he has spent millions of dollars more! Johnny is a very private man! So why would he set out to live in the heart of Downtown, Los Angeles, in a historic highrise building right where everyone out here can identify it in a second?...it is a bewilderment to say the least!...even when he does come into Los Angeles...the media reports him as staying at classy hotels such as: the "Beverly Hilton" hotel in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles). Never understood that one alone, when he already owns a mansion in the Hollywood Hills!...Of course, since I live in Los Angeles, and have my whole life, of course, I would go head over heels to have him nearby! Woweee! Well,...we shall see...the hands of time will tell...
I have learned in the past that TMZ cannot be a reliable news source, they never get their facts straight, or do something justa tick the celebs off...I personally don't trust them.

It could be true(unlikely)but there would be no REAL reason for him to do that...like someone said he already has his home in the hills and he wouldnt just put himself in the middle of all the commotion...he's a private man, and that buy would be a huge risk to his privacy...-crystal,(ca)

Hi; I thought I would drop by to check if i was seeing things or not and let you people know that I thought i saw Jonny Depp (in Australia ) with his family. Is this likely? I dont keep up with all he does.. I was in a shopping centre rushing before it closed and this family was shopping and going passed the $2 store. I looked and thought.."no way" kept walking..and then when i got home i found a magazine that said Jonny Depp is coming to Australia for a new film.. then i thought..shessh i should have double checked this guy and his family..you never know. Does anyone know?
