My god! He looks absolutely, totally, and completely stark-raving mad, and absolutely fantastic! No matter how scary he gets, no matter how much they "uglify" him, he's still "drop dead" gorgeous (tee hee). Breathtaking! Burton is a genius.

and about hunter...i LOVED johnny's funny engaging performance, u just kinda forgot that he's bald lol! Johnny was HOT in fear+loathing! u cant deny ;))
I'm going to watch fear & loathing again to see if I 'get it'. I've seen it 3 times but I will try again.

I didn't get it either...
thats the beauty of it! - as i watched it i felt like i was on a drug trip with gonzo and hunter - i enjoyed the randomness of having no idea what the hell is going on ;DD
i ADORE the scene where Johnny's stumbling through the turnstiles to pay for the ticket "in this town they love a drunk. fresh meat" XD
I cheated and watched 'fear and loathing' with the subtitles on.
It certainly helps you 'get' the film. The scene in the diner is a beautiful performance by Johnny. You can really feel his discomfort. I suppose there is something about him after all.(Sorry this has gone way off topic.) Anon #2
What a Movie..i just so want to have been the person that curled Johnny hair ....at the beginning of the trailer...Imagine living with Johnny while he was playing Sweeney...I bet poor Vanessa hid all the knives etc.....Cant wait
I think you had to live through the 70's and have an understanding of the drug culture from that day to understand it.
I read the book and watched the movie, and this was one of the 1st times ever that the movie was exactly like the book ... my visual concept derived from the book played out before me on the screen detail for detail.
it was awesome! And Johnny did a great job at becoming Hunter Thompson. He should have won an award for it, truly.
