How exciting! So glad our Johnny will be back in the states instead of so faraway overseas! I hope while he is filming in Chicago and the surrounding areas that the powerful winds there will blow so hard they will blow him westbound right into Los Angeles where I am! HA! -Linda in Los Angeles, CA

I'm very excited because another one of my fav actors is in this film also,Christian Bale. Unfortunately,he plays one of the orig G-Men so he and Johnny probably won't have any scenes together ,gosh darn it!! Except for Johnny's natural flair for comedy, he and Bale are on the same level as actors ,I'd love to see them together. *sigh*

How is our beautiful Johnny going to be made up to look anything like John Dillinger? They need the people who did the make-up on 'The Libertine' on the case. It made me want to cry when I saw him like that.

I've just read that Dillinger's eyes were grey so I wonder if Johnny might use some coloured contacts in the film. That would be interesting.

Well, I really was looking forward to Shantaram. I still hope for it to start as soon as possible after Johnnys' Dillinger role. I know he likes the strange character roles, but I'm a big fan of Benny & Joon, and I'd like to see Depp do another comedy role, although I think it would have to be a bit more complex,(meaning a great script).Oh well, he's only 44,right? I live in Chicago. I'm excited he will be in my town.
I was wondering if I could get pointers from other more seasoned Depp fans on how to go about maybe sneeking a peek or even go so far as to get an autograph.
Oh, one can dream huh.
Johnny will be lookin so good as a gangster!!! This is going to be a good one.
I just loved Sweeney!

i looked at a chicago paper, a milwaukee paper and a madison paper and they all say the same thing (as recently as jan 29) that michael mann has been scouting locations but not sure which one (chicago, madison, milwaukee, oshkosh) will be used. Also, Universal Studios has applied with the various departments of commerce but nothing has been finalized. I looked up the Department of Commerce in Wisconsin, but could not find anything.

I am so excited. I live in Madison and the thought of Johnny coming here has been the buzz on the nightly news on and off for weeks!! Is there anywhere to find out the filming location and dates? I know that they were looking at the Capital in Madison for a few movies this one included. I am only 15 minutes away.
Johnny will warm things up here...Pretty cold now.

My Grandfather helped capture John Dillinger. How will I know if his part is going to be portrayed in this movie?

The paper in my town of Aurora Il.
said the Michael Mann was scouting the site of our towns beautifull historic Paramount Theater, for a possible site for the movie too.
Wow! That Theater is only ten minutes from my house!!! Hope they shoot some footage there.
The theater would be historically accurate to the time of the film since it was opened in Sept. 1931.

Dillinger was the greatest gangster of all time and its high time they did a movie about the crime wave of the 30's; and we all know,(and not just the Depp crazy women) that he is the perfect actor for the role. Now I know the movie will reach its full potential. Keep us informed of extras needed for the film.

Point for Wisconsin! My friend's house is actually being scouted for shooting. If selected, the hide-out scenes would be shot there!

My best friend has seen signs posted near where she works in Chicago that say "Public Enemies" filming. I was kind of surprised they would be so overt about the film - often they use other names to throw people off. So maybe I'll have to go into Chicago and pick her up one day after work! :)

Any news on autographs while he in Chi-town? I am afraid Chicago will not be warm, but the background will be perfectly grey and dull for the gangster movie theme. I feel John Dillinger will be yet another great roll for Johnny to play.

I got to watch the first day of filming in Crown Point, Indiana. I live in town and it was pretty neat to see them at the old jail. He was inside most of the time but did come out and wave a few times. Ive never seen anything like this so it was pretty cool. The extra's were pretty entertaining to the crown lol!!

The Czech Community was behind the film Pulbic Enemy Number one starring Johnny Depp because of Little Bohemia in Northern Wis.

But now one of our Sisters tells us that when filming in Chicago Plzensky Sokol building at 1814 S Ashland Ave as a set. During the
filming, the beautiful stone "Plzensky Sokol" sign was removed from
the building, compromising the historic facade.
Please bring this sign back. It is of great importance for all
Czech-Americans
