That is fantastic news.
It's a pity Johnny Depp doesn't actually care about this stuff or maybe it's just the ceremony he can't stand.

I am soooooooooooooooo thrilled he finally won. I'll bet he was surprised! How ironic that there's a strike and we didn't get to see him come on a stage and reluctantly and humbly accept the so very deserved award. I know he's not interested in that stuff but we are! Now I'll have to get thru the Oscars and hope that when the dvd comes out tentatively in April, there'll be a 2-disc edition! Congrats Johnny!!!!!
So well deserved and ironic that his first attempt at singing wins him a "best actor in a musical" Globe. Congratulations for an incredible job! The only disappointment was that Tim Burton was not honored as well. This film is a masterpiece due to another remarkable collaboration on their part.

Hate to ruin the party (don't mean to, I'm just being realistic) but I really think Daniel Day Lewis will take home the Oscar for best actor. I've read nothing but great reviews about his POWERFUL performance. At least JD got a Globe.

It's about time Johnny won a Golden Globe. Eight nominations says a great deal about the quality of his work and its universal appeal. Great news also for Sweeney and Tim Burton. He is such a fantastic director, who is always ahead of his time. He is visually and thematically one of the greatest directors of all time, in my humble opinion!

It was wonderful to see Johnny win, as well as the movie. This is my new favorite role of his - very powerful. I wish Helena could have won as well. But I found it incredibly sad that there was no ceremony. This award is a great achievement, and the performers deserve their moment to shine. I hope we see Johnny at the Oscars.
Okay so regardless of the fact that he constantly says he doesn't like these kind of things, there is not one person alive who would not be proud of themself for winning an award... that is a very big accomplishment and I KNOW that he likes winning something... everyone does, whether they say so or not... just sayin'...

I was telling people at work that I was going to be ticked if he won and of course he did! ARGH! He's been nominated probably more than anyone and he finally wins and we don't get to see it . GRRRRRRRRR!!!
Such thrilling news to know that Johnny finally received the Golden Globe award he so richly deserved! Next stop: The Academy Awards!! (and hopefully NO more Writer's Strike to keep him away!)...Way to go Johnny and the amazing Sweeney Todd movie!!

THIS, FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN WATCHING FROM REELZ, ONLY HURTS THE "ACADEMY WINNERS"!! THIS WAS JOHN'S FIRST GG!! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FABULOUS TO SEE HIM ACCEPT THAT AWARD!! NOW, IT WILL PROBABLY, (IF WE SEE THE ACADEMY AWARDS)?, GO TO DANIEL DAY LEWIS. HOW STRANGE??? HE'S WINNING EVERYTHING, AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ WE'LL BE FORTUNATE IF OUR DARLING GETS AN ACADEMY AWARD NOD?? I'M TRULY TICKED AT THE WRITER'S QUILD, FOR DEPRIVING ME OF SEEING THE GREATEST ACTOR ALIVE, DEPRIVE HIM AND HIS FANS OF THAT "ACCEPTANCE SPEECH"! THEY CAN GO TAKE A LONG WALK OFF A SHORT PEIR!!
