Mr. Depp is THE finest actor who's work we are privileged to view. He deserves every award he is nominated for and certainly an Academy Award for Sweeney Todd will be forthcoming. (Otherwise the Oscar is a mere lump of brass!) I have never heard one person say he is not a favorite choice. He is mine.

The WGA strike is coming at a really bad time isn't it? Johnny has been nominated for Golden Globe 7 times right? If he wins this year when its not being telecast I'll be so TICKED. And with my luck Russell Crowe will win something too then I'll just be beside myself. ARGH!!

I just wish we could have seen and heard him accept it in person onstage. Guess I should be looking at the glass as half full, though, shouldn't I? At least he won the award! Joonbugdepp

I'm just sort of mad because I feel like he pulled a Benedict Arnold; like he got too scared of what the rest of Hollywood would think at the fans' expense and didn't record an acceptance speech for the PCAwards. He seems like a standup guy, so I'll forgive him this time.

MEGZFIDDLER64:
I'm surprised! You should know better. He's never been afraid of what Hollywood thinks. He's not afraid of anything! I'm pretty sure that when they were getting the awards show together it was done pretty fast because of the writers' strike. If you noticed watching the show, all the winners accepting their awards were here in the USA and how many award shows have you seen where some celebs accept awards for the winners who weren't there? He's out of the country (Remember the Sweeney Todd Premieres?)and has been most likely while the PCA show was being taped. He was in Japan at the time and now he's in England. You don't know what his schedule is and from the looks of things he's pretty busy. At this moment, an award is probably the last thing on his mind. Once everything settles down and he's back home and gets a chance to breathe a little, he'll most likely say something in an interview. Chill out! He knows where his bread is buttered. He's never forgotten his fans and he never will. I won't forgive him because there's nothing to forgive!!! BENEDICT ARNOLD??? Absolutely not!! Way to go, Johnny!!!! Great job!!

I missed the Peoples Choice Awards :( but you say Johnny didn't come on? I say, good for you Johnny. As a union member, the only way to make a union strong is for its members to stick together and NOT cross that picket line. So, yes, I would LOVE to see Johnny win the awards he is most deserving, but he DID win. And I admire his principles.
Congrats, Johnny and good look with the golden globes and the oscars!!

For Megzfiddler64..
I don't believe, our Johnny is afraid of what the rest of Hollywood might think of him. He never was afraid to piss them off - Remember all the things, he has said about America?
Sometimes I am thinking, that's the reason, why he has never recieved the Oscar, he so obviously deserves.

Ah, if ya'll check your video clip history, you'll find that this is Johnnys' 4th win as favorite male movie star,(05',06',07',& 08'). I would like to see him try "Dancin' with the Stars". He sung Sweeney so deviliously, surely HE'D GIVE THE OLD DANCIN' A ROMP FOR HIS FANS?? Or put out a singing CD, with him playing guitar, with a duet with Vanessa!!I loved his ruggish accented singing,BRAVO,JOHNNY!!

Please remember Johnny has said he doesn't need a lump of metal to prove his acting worthiness, sitting on a mantel. Yes it is nice, but we all know he'll always be the best of our generation, say last 20 years? He says those of us who work hard, buy a movie ticket to see him, and enjoy him so well,(don't think he doesn't know it!?That's applause to him,but he is worth every penny I've ever spent on him,(and even MORE!!)

Well, it's Sunday Jan 13th,and I just got my birthday present, Johnny just won the Golden Globe for best performance musical/comedy,and Sweeney took best musical/comedy.Tim didn't get his for directing, but I think he's happy for the movie and Johnny. Helena had stiff performances to be up against, but I still love her Sweeney interpretation of Ms. Lovett. My birthday is 14th.

You don't know what the guys thinking. He's said dumb things before only to evade questions asked (the "dumb puppy" incident.) I'm a huge Johnny fan and simply adore the man, but I learn to look at things with a critical eye when I see it fit. He's not infallible, and he's been tip-toeing around the whole strike from things I've heard him say. He's just as cautious as anyone else is. Just because he's Hollywood's "rebel" doesn't mean he can say and do anything.

You don't know what he's thinking either. You give the impression you're standing right there with him.
As far as the "dumb puppy" incident, he cleared that up on Oprah's show in November 2004. You're not the only one who hears what he says. Instead of looking at things with a critical eye, maybe you should open up your mind. Granted, he's not infallible and he knows this. He's not tip toeing around anything. He's probably got other things on his mind on his mind at the moment, like the movie he's been promoting overseas.
