Depp Will Not Attend Luncheon
According to an article in the L.A. Times, Johnny Depp and several other acting nominees will not be attending the Oscar nominee luncheon Monday. The article doesn't mention the reason, but I would assume scheduling conflicts.

On Monday afternoon, the academy hosts its annual luncheon for Oscar nominees at the Beverly Hilton. Expected among the crowd of more than 100 hopefuls are all five directors who made the cut as well as all of the nominated writers. However, the acting branch will be represented by only 11 of the 19 nominees.
Double nominee Cate Blanchett will be a no-show (as she was last year), as will lead actor contenders Daniel Day-Lewis, Johnny Depp and Tommy Lee Jones, supporting actor hopefuls Philip Seymour Hoffman and Tom Wilkinson and supporting actress nominees Saoirse Ronan and Tilda Swinton.

I love Johnny but I'm getting tired of other fans complaining because he's not doing what they want him to do. We don't know his schedule and he doesn't have to inform the public about every single thing he does. He's not the only actor to not show up at these luncheons and he's certainly not the last. Fans definitely are not invited. They get mad if he's in France and not Japan, they get mad if he's in England and not France, they get mad if he doesn't show up where they want him to be, or say what they want him to say and how to say it, etc. etc. Besides, the media doesn't really report too much about the luncheons. No one has the right to run his life and he certainly isn't running anyone else's.
So knock it off and be happy he's around to be the fantastic talent he is, and leave him alone! We don't own the man!
I think that there are a whole lot of people that need lives. Actors owe their audiences a resonable good time for their ten bucks at the box office, nothing more, nothing less. They don't need to show up at every little dog and pony show for people that cling to their computers day and night for some tidbit about what their favorite actor is doing that day! And as for Johnny preferring France, so what?? If I had his money, I wouldn't be here, either!

i completely agree with Sheri, get a life people! I love Johnny and love seeing photos of him but his private life is his own business we have no clue the pressures he has to put up with. He is a very private person and does not owe anyone else any explanations!!!!
i really dont care where he goes or what he does its his life he doesnt owe us anything..we owe him to watch his fantastic movies and we owe him for looking so sexy =D hes great just leave him alone he has a family and he has a hard job that requires a little too much of him let him appear when he can as long as i get to see him in magazines and in movies im fine (AND I AM A TRUE FAN IM LIKE IN LOVE WITH HIM =D)
