Teaser

posted by ~thea 12:19 AM

Hello all! Thanks to the Lord above, a couple of dear friends, and my willingness to just throw caution to the wind and live a little, I am writing to you from FLORIDA! That's right. This part-time Johnny Depp correspondent (LOL) made it to Friday night's show and it was, of course, awesome. It was so good to see him in person and so into his music. I know the feeling. I don't play but singing is that way for me. Anyway, he looked great. Short hair in back, longer bangs in front, and he was rockin! Oh yes - Vanessa and the children were backstage!!!

I didn't get as close as I would have liked (heh) but pretty close. I think the pictures will be good - most of them. The bad news is - this is the teaser part - I won't be home until Wednesday and I have no way to share my pictures with you until then. But if you cannot wait, there are many Johnny Depp Fansites posting great close up pics of the event.

See you Wednesday!
Hugs, ~thea

Johnny Wins SyFy Genre Award

posted by ~thea 8:38 PM

Congratulations to Johnny Depp who has won another award for his performance in "Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet." Johnny picked up the award for Best Movie Actor in the 2008 SyFy Genre Awards.

Johnny last won this award in 2004 for his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

If you are wondering what a SyFy Award is, I give you this blurb from Wikipedia:
The SyFy Genre Awards, considered one of the first major virtual entertainment awards, is a product of the science fiction and fantasy Web site SyFy Portal. The SyFy Genre Awards provide an opportunity for fans to honor the best of science fiction television, movies, books, comic books, and web productions for the year.

Congratulations Johnny!

Johnny Playing in Florida

posted by ~thea 1:32 PM

You read right. Johnny Depp is on his way stateside to perform with The Kids at the 2nd Annual Sheila Witkin Memorial Reunion Concert. Depp's appearance was confirmed not only by the Daily 10 earlier this week, but also by the man himself during a short radio interview with Paul & Young Ron (Johnny was on the phone while the other "Kids" were in the studio). To hear the portion of the interview with Johnny, use this link:

Now for the concert. The Kids, among many other band, are scheduled to perform at Club Cinema, 3251 N. Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL on Friday & Saturday, August 29 & 30, 2008. Proceeds will go the the Sheila Witkin Foundation and to the Dan Marino Foundation.

As most of you know, Johnny was part of the first annual Sheila Witkin Memorial Concert on January 28, 2007. They raised over $30,000 last year and their goal this year is $100,000. I'm betting they won't have any trouble in meeting/surpassing this goal.

Another happening in the area this coming weekend is the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival or FLIFF. Two films included in this year's festival may spark your interest.

The first is "Gonzo: The Life and Works of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson." This film features interviews with Dr. Thompson and many famous people, including, of course, Johnny Depp.

The second film is also a documentary, soon to be released on DVD. This is the long awaited "Rock & A Hard Place: Another Night at the Agora" which chronicles the life and contributions of Sheila Witkin, and includes footage from the 2007 Memorial Concert.

The films will be shown at the Cinema Paradiso, Fort Lauderdale's Arthouse Movie Theater. "Gonzo" will play Thursday & Friday, Aug 28 & 29 and "Rock & A Hard Place" will play Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 29-31, 2008.

(The two newer pictures in this post were taken January 28, 2007. I do not know who took the pictures but I thank you - from the bottom of my heart. If you are the photographer and want them removed, please let me know. This site is here to share the joy, not to offend.)

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

A Few Answers

posted by ~thea 11:19 AM

Good morning (or evening) everyone. Trish & I thank you all for your comments. Good to know you are there!!

As far as we know, it's still just rumor (conjecture?) as to "Alice" and it being partially animated / computer generated. I hope we will know soon - and I hope we'll have confirmation on whether or not Johnny will participate.

Still no confirmation on "the Riddler" either. Somehow I cannot see that happening, for many reasons (time being the biggest), but who knows?

There seems to be stronger evidence concerning "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote." The "word on the street" is director Terry Gilliam has the script back from the insurance company and is going ahead with the film. We certainly hope all the mishaps are over! Yes, Johnny and Vanessa are still attached to this project.

Speaking of Johnny & Vanessa, no - they have not wed. At least, if they did, they are keeping it as private as they do everything else. ;-)

As for updates on the site, Trish is working on them and does appreciate your patience. She has been very, very busy with work & family lately but she is still here working diligently on the updates.

In the meantime, the films on which Johnny is working, or rumored to work - according to IMDB - are:

Sin City 3 (2009) (in production) (rumored) (probably "dead")
The Rum Diary (2009) (in production)
Dark Shadows (2010) (announced) (rumored)
Shantaram (2009) (pre-production)
Public Enemies (2009) (post-production)
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) (post-production)

This does not include a variety of "in development" projects.

Thank you all again for being here. Stay tuned for more updates. When we know, you'll know. :-)

Hugs, Thea

Actors Donate Salary

posted by ~thea 3:13 PM

Although this news has been posted on different sites over the last few days, this particular one is from TONIGHT. Although I know next to nothing about Colin Farrell or Jude Law, I am not at all surprised that Johnny Depp did this.

'The money goes to Heath's daughter
August 15, 2008

Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law have donated their earnings from new movie The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus to Heath Ledger's daughter Matilda.

The actors - who replaced Heath following his death from an accidental prescription drugs overdose in January - wanted to give their money to Heath's two-year-old child with actress Michelle Williams to ensure she has a secure future.

The movie's director Terry Gilliam said: "The three actors were totally heroic coming in. This doesn't happen very often - where there's a tragedy like this, and very famous, very successful actors suddenly say, 'OK, we'll do whatever it takes to help.'

"They came, they did the work, they allowed the movie to be finished, they didn't take money - the money goes to Heath's daughter. That's extraordinary!

"I am so glad these guys are so humble. That's why they make a great addition to the film. It will be bittersweet seeing this movie knowing he was filming it only days before he died. This picture still hurts to see because as we all know he did die a couple of days after this picture was taken. My thoughts will always be with Heath."

Johnny, Colin and Jude will all play Heath's character Tony as he is transported into three separate dimensions, which he accesses via a paranormal mirror belonging to a travelling theatre troupe.

Johnny Going Mad?

posted by ~thea 10:52 PM

This might still be just a rumor but just so you know "the talk of the town" I thought I'd go ahead and give you all an update. This article is from IGN Entertainment. Personally, I hope it's true but I also was disappointed to see that, supposedly, the live action stops when Alice goes down the hole. I don't want to just hear Johnny's voice - I want to see him BE the Mad Hatter. Time will tell.

Depp Confirmed for Alice
Mad Hatter rumor reportedly true.
by Jim Vejvoda

August 6, 2008 - Rumors swirled last week that Johnny Depp might reteam with director Tim Burton for the latter's 3-D retelling of Alice in Wonderland.

Now comes word that the dynamic duo -- who have previously teamed for, among others, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and Sleepy Hollow -- are indeed reuniting for the live action/performance-capture adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic.

According to a source for Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider blog, Alice "will be live action until Alice (played by Mia Wasikowska of HBO's In Treatment) jumps down the rabbit hole and meets the loopy tea party host. The big question is whether Depp himself will don a Hatter outfit, or lend his voice to the computer-generated version."

Alice in Wonderland is expected to begin filming early next year for a 2010 release. Linda Woolverton penned the script.
